Carol Glassmann

August 16, 1942 — May 10, 2015

On August 16, 1942, the Good Lord decided to share a beautiful little girl with the world because He knew she would change people's lives. Her loving parents named her Carol Antoinette Folgers. Twenty years later, she met the man of her dreams and married Lawrence R. Glassmann, Jr. on December 15, 1962. After 52 memorable years together, God decided she was needed in heaven and peacefully took her hand at 2:30 AM on May 10, 2015, with her husband by her side.

During her lifetime, Carol accomplished so many tremendous deeds and changed so many lives. She gave her heart and home to 33 foster children, one of whom she and Larry adopted and named James, who decided to be with God at an early age in 2000. Carol was an active member at Our Lady of Lourdes quilting group and made numerous quilts which were sold, raffled or given away. She was meticulous in her quilt creations from her quilting den at her home. Not only was she a quilting member at Our Lady of Lourdes, she was extremely active with teaching CCD classes, working dinners, running the bingo stand, participating in several auctions, helping decorate the new rectory and the planning of the new elevator. Outside of church activities, Carol was the Clerk of Deerfield Township for 30+ years and worked for Badoura State Tree Nursery for 35 dedicated years before retiring in 2005.

Carol was not just about work; she loved outdoor activities including tending flowers, bird watching, gardening, raking and baling hay, tending to livestock, and picking various berries which she made into jams and jellies. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and those she "adopted" as her grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her husband, Lawrence; daughters, Kathleen Glassmann and Kristine (Michael) Jones; her grandchildren, David and Matthew Jones, Courtney, Chelsea and Chloe Glassmann, Kaitlyn Alderson; great granddaughter, Anastasia Glassmann; brother, Thomas (Virginia) Folgers; and sister, Anne Hartman.

The Celebration of her Life will be at 12 noon on Saturday, May 16, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
