Carol Gatzow

Carol Ann Gatzow, 76, of Merrifield, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 2 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crosslake, MN. Family and friends are invited to gather Monday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred to the American Cancer Society.

Carol was born December 16, 1934 in Hanley, MN, the daughter of Robert Benjamin and Anna Henrietta (Schaplow) Anderson. Carol was united in marriage to Raymond Howard Gatzow and the couple made their home in the Forest Lake area. They retired in 1990 and moved to Merrifield. Carol enjoyed gardening, flowers and hand-work. She was an active member of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church. Her children will remember her for all her lessons on gardening and cooking as well as her appreciation for nature.

She will be missed by her husband of 58 years, Raymond; children, Lisa Ann McQueen, of Terre Haute, IN, Louise Marie (Mark) Duhaime, of Fort Wayne, IN and Phillip John (Cathy) Gatzow, of Maplewood; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin and her mother, Anna.
