Carol J. Fluck, age 73, of Brainerd, died Thursday afternoon, May 11, 2005 at Woodland Good Samaritan Village. A celebration of Carol?s life will be at 1:00 PM Sunday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter. The family will receive guests beginning at 11:30 AM on Sunday. Interment will be in Garrison Cemetery at 5:00 PM.
Carol Joyce Fluck was born on January 12, 1932, in Buffalo, MN, the daughter of Glen and Edith (Persian) Ward. She grew up and graduated from high school in Buffalo. On March 17, 1951, she was united in marriage to Harvey K. Fluck after they eloped to Iowa. To this union 3 daughters, Beth Kay, Cheryl, and Cindy, were born. Harvey and Carol were able to share 42 years of marriage before he died on November 9, 1993.
During their early years the couple lived in Crystal, MN, where the three girls were raised. While living there Carol worked for Univac in Roseville and built the ?brain? that helped NASA put the first man on the moon. In 1978 the family moved to Brainerd where they owned and operated the Downtown Motel for many years. She had a wide variety of interests that included gardening, upholstery, cake decorating, and real estate sales. After Harvey died Carol moved back to Buffalo for a time, returning to Brainerd three years ago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Edith; and her husband, Harvey. Carol is mourned in passing by her children, Beth Kay Ramin of Brooklyn Center, Cheryl (Robin) Clark of Brainerd, and Cindy (Terry) Manes of Burlington, IA; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Glo Elliot of Buffalo, MN; a brother, Ted (Fran) Ward of Kissimmee, FL; a sister-in-law, Violet Leske of Buffalo Lake, MN and a great aunt, Marge Vieau of Buffalo, MN.
