Carol Bandel

Carol Bertha Marie (Nelson) Bandel of Pequot Lakes passed away at the Good Samaritan Society, Pine River, on the morning of November 11, 2013, at the age of 77.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Alma, her three brothers and three sisters.

Carol is lovingly remembered by her husband, Merlin, whom she married in Pequot Lakes on October 29, 1955; her four children: Joe (Annie) Bandel, Sherrie (Johnny) Johnson, Ruth (Charles) Messerschmidt, Tim (Colleen) Bandel; three brothers and two sisters: Emery (Hazel) Nelson, John (Marlene) Nelson, Betty (Grant) Hagestad, David (Joanne) Nelson, Jeanette Nelson; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; other family and friends.

Carol was born in rural Crow Wing County, Minnesota, on September 12, 1936. She graduated from Pequot Lakes High School in 1954. She worked as an LPN. Carol enjoyed family, friends, gardening, and having horses on the farm. She also enjoyed celebrating the seasons and her home was always festive, warm and welcoming with a full pot of coffee and a plate of cookies.

Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, November 16 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes, with Pastor Donna Olsen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A reception at Our Savior's will follow the service and interment will occur at Kedron Cemetery, rural Pequot Lakes (Highway 17W). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice. Carol's husband and family extend a special thanks to the loving staff of the Good Samaritan Society, Pine River.
