Carol Anna Baltes, 78, of Baxter, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd after a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial for Carol will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 17, 2010 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Steve Laflamme officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July, 16, 2010 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Internment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM.
Carol was born June 27, 1932 in West Union, MN, the daughter of Henry and Rose (Marthaler) Deters. In 1967, she was united in marriage to Elmer Baltes. The couple moved to Baxter where they made their home. She was a teaching assistant for many years in the Brainerd School District. Carol was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and St. Francis Cabrini Guild.
She will be missed by her children, Debra (Robert Marshall), of Chanhassen, Mary (Mike) Allison, of Rochester, Randy (Heidi) Baltes, of Sauk Rapids, Terry (Cindy) Baltes, of Baxter, and Kim (Troy) Lanoux, of St. Louis Park; 15 grandchildren; her brother, Bernard Deters, of West Union; and her sisters, Hilda Westbrock, of Sauk Centre, Florence Mechels, of Brooklyn Park, and Sally Jarchow, of Apple Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
