Carl Nordquist

Carl “Jack” John Nordquist, 87, of Baxter, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Essentia Health/St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Carl was born on March 26, 1930 in St. Paul, MN to Carl and Henrietta (Hagen) Nordquist. He joined the United States Air Force during the Korean War serving from 1949-1952. He married Donna Thornton on June 8th, 1952 in Bloomington, IL. Carl graduated from the U of M with a BA in Architecture, working for over 40 years as an architect. He was very passionate about our environment and taking care of it. Carl was very good with numbers and liked playing cards, crosswords, and puzzles. His favorite past time was reading. He also liked to draw, go fishing, and swimming. Carl was always a dedicated donor to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Carl will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Donna; six children, Charles, John, Carolyn, Robert, Kevin, and Ann; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Henrietta; one sister, and one brother. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations in Carl’s name be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
