Carl Granby

Carl Granby, 83, of Staples, MN died Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples. Funeral services for Carl will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 26, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples, with Pastor Steve Sveom and Pastor Floistad officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment at Poplar Cemetery.

Carl was born May 5, 1931 to Carl and Attalene (Nichols) Granby in Wadena, MN. He graduated from Motley High School. Carl married Alice Knapper on June 26, 1952 at Swan Valley Lutheran Church in Leader, MN. He was a hard working farmer, raising sheep, hogs, dairy and beef cattle on the family farm near Leader, MN in Byron Township. He worked at Morey's for 24 years. Carl enjoyed carpentry, hunting, fishing, trapping, logging and talking to anyone willing to listen.

Carl is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Keith (Vicki) Granby of Champlin, MN, Charlene (Duane) Breid of Lakeville, MN, Beverly (Dave) Grose of Sauk Rapids, MN, Carl (Lila) Granby of Staples, MN, Orel (Alice) Granby of Staples, MN, Bruce (Julie) Granby of Staples, MN; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orel Granby; four infant sisters, Helen, Olive, Mildred, Virginia and one great grandson, Tristen Granby. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
