Calvin Glockzin

June 9, 1940 — April 1, 2014

Calvin D. Glockzin, 73, of Browerville died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the VA Health Care System in St. Cloud, MN. Memorial service for Calvin will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples, MN, with Pastor Robin Collins officiating. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to services at the church.

Calvin was born June 9, 1940 in Little Falls, MN to August and Edith (Stoll) Glockzin. Calvin married Ardith Gusey on July 27, 1985 in Park Rapids, MN. Calvin served his Country in the US Army and was Honorably Discharged. He was an active churchman and Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples, as well as a member of Lutheran Layman’s League, Confessional Lutherans and a delegate to District and National Conventions of Lutheran Church MO Synod. At various times, Calvin was self-employed at his potato warehouse and as a Barber in Staples, an Insurance Agent and a Real Estate Broker. He also worked for the State of Minnesota Soil Conservation District. He enjoyed woodworking, singing in the Barbershop Quartet, Chorus and Bible Study.

Calvin is survived by his wife, Ardith; children, Howard Glockzin of St. Cloud, Thomas (Lisa) Pluth of Branson, MO, Cynthia (Michael) Potvin of Cedar, MN, Timothy (Beth) Pluth of Chippewa Falls, WI, Cara (Brady) Nagel of Eau Claire, WI; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley. Memorials can be made to Orphan Grain Train.
