Byron Shepard

Byron Shepard, age 70, of Longville, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at his home. He was born to Curtis and Lucille Shepard on April 30, 1948, in Brainerd. Byron attended school at Riverside School in Brainerd until 1958 when the family moved to Backus. He graduated from Backus High School in 1967. Byron worked for Lake Region Coop in Maple Lake. He married Arlene Stoppelman on April 26, 1969, in Buffalo. Byron owned and operated Nisswa Sanitation and Nisswa Roll-off. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Nisswa American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors.

Byron is survived by his wife, Arlene; brother, Gavin Shepard; and sister, Marsha Craemer. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 2 PM on Saturday, October 13, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
