Bruce Alfred Carlson was born on December 2, 1948, in Minneapolis, and grew up in Richfield and at the family cabin on the Gull River near Brainerd, where he loved to fish, hunt, and be outdoors. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1967 and attended Dunwoody Institute and worked as a mechanic, retiring from Feldman Imports in the early 1990s. Bruce was a gifted mechanic and could fix any car, bring an old snowmobile back to life, get a motorcycle back on the road, add a few custom touches to make a golf cart go a little faster than the manufacturer intended, and remove all safety parts that may have slowed him down. In retirement, he and his loving wife, Linda, moved to the family cabin near Brainerd and lived the good life, settling in with a strong shot of Norwegian stubbornness.
He is survived by wife Linda; his daughter Jeanine (John); his son Cory (Sarah); his stepson Jason (Kristin); and his grandsons, Johnny and Vince. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnie and Mabel; and his brother Arnie. If there was a neglected outboard laying around in heaven, it’s probably running by now.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
