Bruce Ayers

Bruce Darrell Joseph Ayers, age 62, of Staples, died on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in St. Cloud. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, August 16, 2019 at Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Staples from 1 to 3 p.m. A time of sharing will be at 2:30 p.m. and military honors will be provided by Tri County American Legion at 3 p.m.. Interment will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, near Camp Ripley, on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.

Bruce was born to Bruce and Judith (Weldon) Ayers on August 3, 1957 at the Duluth Air Base. He served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne division, and took great pride in his service. Bruce also worked as an over the road trucker for many years. He would always give you the shirt off his back if you were in need.  Bruce enjoyed collecting coins and vinyl albums (including an original Abby Road).  He moved to Staples to be closer to family and found unity and many friends during his stay at the VA in St. Cloud.  Bruce will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Judith Ayers; three siblings, Dennis Ayers, Patricia Muslof and Pamela Thomas; many nieces and nephews; as well as many friends and caregivers at the VA Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claire; father, Bruce Ayers;  and a niece, Christina Ayers.
