Brian "Teardrop" Mahaffey

Barnard Brian Mahaffey, affectionately known to his friends and family as Teardrop (when not being called Dad or Grandpa) passed away on Wednesday, June 7th, in Staples, MN. Brian did not show up at the Pearly Gates all neat and tidy, freshly laundered, newly trimmed in a scheduled Uber. No, Teardrop came roaring in on the Harley of his dreams, tearing up the asphalt, twisting the wick one last time, skidding to a stunt-worthy stop because he lived his life! He had a traveler's soul that took him from his original stomping grounds (Mobile, AL) all over the United States until he met the love of his life (Sue Gosse) and planted deep roots in Staples, MN.

He loved listening to music, passed his time enjoying online casino games, like to watching sports like baseball and college basketball, and absolutely loved his Minnesota Vikings. He was a very loving father and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved sharing his life's stories and loved hearing jokes especially good old-fashioned dad jokes. He gave great advice, unapologetically solid advice, even when you may have preferred the sugar coated version, he always came through with the truth.

Brian's wishes were to not have a funeral service but instead opt for a quick cremation and to be laid to rest with Sue and their two cats, Taz and Toot.

Left to celebrate his life and pass on his memories are two daughters, Krystena Wall (Wayne Kludt) of Randall, and Traci (Rob) Backmann of Staples; 7 grandchildren: Suzanne, DJ, Caleb, Bri, Hayley, Liberty, and Madison; 7 great-grandchildren: Isaac, Nathan, Mira, Hayden, Aiden, Caroline, and Alivya; 3 very special family members: Herb and Cindy Gosse, and Gary Allen; and several nieces and nephews.

He was joined at the gates by the love of his life, Sue Gosse; his loyal best friend Sitka; his parents; his two brothers and one sister; and several close family members and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
