Brent Godfrey

Brent Richard Godfrey, age 39, of Backus, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Cuyuna Regional Hospital, Crosby. He was born to Thomas and Sandra Godfrey on October 17, 1977, in Brainerd.

Brent adored his wife and children, and was a father unlike any other. He couldn't wait to share life with them every day. Tractors and farming with his dad were two of his favorite pastimes, and he quickly passed the passion on to his two boys. He was in his element during football season and was a part of many fantasy football leagues. He was always willing to help others and served on the Backus volunteer fire department for twelve years. Brent enjoyed thinking about what needed to be done and how to do it. He was always asking for help and advice to do things the best way he could. He loved to hunt: a.k.a. read books, nap, and snack in the stand, while also hoping a nice buck would come his way.

Brent is survived by his wife, Laura; children, Mason and Ethan; parents, Tom and Sandy; brother, Wayne (Tracey); sister, Heather Orth (Chris); and eight nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Zack; and grandparents, Vern and Audrey Godfrey and Elmer and Margaret Siecard.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 15, from 4 to 7 PM at the Church of the Nazarene in Backus. Services will be 2 PM on Wednesday, November 16 with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Church of the Nazarene.
