Bradley Travis

August 10, 1949 — April 1, 2017

We were blessed to have had Bradley Alan Travis in our lives for 67 years. He died peacefully April 1, 2017. He was actually killed in 1969 in Viet Nam from Agent Orange, but the Good Lord allowed him to come home, get married and raise a family before he died.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Mary (Heath) Travis; brother, Tim; and sister, Luann. He leaves behind the love of his life, wife Harriet (Weiss); his kids, whom he was extremely proud of: Todd (Jeanne), Neil (Jenny), Rob (Gina), Meg (Tim); his adored grandkids: Abby, Tim, Ben Dan, Caleb, Cate, Carson, Domanic, Clara Rose, Natalie and namesake, Bradley; sister, Janet (Brian) Thompson; and many friends and other family members. Brad always said, "Well, I did one thing right in life - I have an amazing family."

Brad was born August 10, 1949, in Pine River, and after adventures around the country, decided there's no place like home, returning to Pine River to put down roots and raise a family. Brad wore many hats during his lifetime and spent much of his time trying to escape to spend more time with his family in the great outdoors. That was probably what prompted him to restore the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs back up in Pine River. He was able to teach another generation his love for and the gift of nature. Brad loved his family more than anything. He also loved fishing, hunting, eating chocolate, drinking coffee, traveling, reading and was a history buff. He enjoyed the many adventures he was able to take his grandkids on, and teaching them about "old times." He was also glad to have lived long enough to see Donald Trump elected.

When Brad learned he had cancer, he said, "Well, I guess I don't have to worry about my blood pressure or cholesterol anymore." He faced it head on (after all, his nickname was Big Bad Brad or Triple Threat) and enjoyed the time he had left with the ones he loved and held close to his heart. Brad left big boots to fill, and he felt he had prepared his family for a future without him, and had no doubt those boots would be filled.

In lieu of flowers, Brad requested that donations be given to The Fisher House in Minneapolis. The Fisher House is a facility near the VA Hospital that allows families to stay free of charge while their family member is in the hospital.

Services will be 11 AM on Friday, April 7, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery, rural Pine River.
