Bradley Gene Stonacek, age 55, surrounded by the loving embrace of his family, passed away peacefully at his home in Pequot Lakes the evening of October 7, 2020. Brad was born on April 8, 1965, in Norfolk, NE. He grew up and attended school in Lincoln, NE, moving to Minnesota in the mid-1980s. As an adult he loved his work which was home construction and always took great pride in his many building projects. Much of his free time was spent with family and friends engaged in activities such as hunting and fishing. He loved aviation and motorcycling so flying his Cessna 172 and riding his BMW motorcycle, both provided a sense of satisfaction and allowed him to continually explore new horizons. Brad also loved to garden and gave away most of what he raised in his oversized but impressive vegetable garden. He was a man of strong opinions and he didn’t hesitate to share his opinion particularly if it sparked a good discussion. He was always learning and was an avid reader.
Brad is survived by his wife, Cynthia Stonacek (Anderson); sons, Adam and Nathan Stonacek; brother, Mark (Heather) Stonacek; mother, JoAnn Weaver; stepfather, Arthur Weaver; and grandmother, Inez McPeck. He enjoyed an especially close relationship with his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dexter and Carol Anderson. He will be greatly missed by the two of them as well as his stepson, Andrew Mitchell and his brother-in-law, David Anderson. In addition, his beloved dog, Clyde, along with a large circle of relatives and friends will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Stonacek, and brother, Steven Stonacek. In his last couple years he struggled with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension but he never stopped hoping and learning about the possibilities for new and improved treatment. We will all miss him so very much!
A gathering for immediate family was held at the Pelican Woods Cemetery in Breezy Point, MN, on Saturday, October 10, 2020. A celebration of Brad’s life will be scheduled for a later date.
