Birten D. Herman, age 76, of Pillager passed away Saturday at his home. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter. Friends may call for one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Birten was born on August 15, 1930, in Staples, MN, the son of John and Florence (Stevens) Herman. After graduating from Staples High School he enlisted in the United States Army. Among the things he enjoyed was working with his hands, fishing, hunting, and wintering in Texas. He was a member of the former Staples VFW Post and the Tri-County REACT Post.
