Elizabeth Lou “Betty” Knutson was born on October 18, 1934, to Arnold and Louella (Holm) Amundson in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She spent her earlier years in Anoka where she graduated high school and had three children, Greg, Rick, and Linda. She married Allan “Red” Knutson on December 2, 1967 and they were married for 36 years. Red and Betty were best friends and constant companions. They began vacationing in Crosslake in 1967 and moved there full time in 1974. In years passing, Red and Betty worked tirelessly to establish youth baseball in Crosslake so their grandchildren could play ball during their summer visits. They were active members of the Ideal Snow Pros and the Whitefish Snowgoers snowmobile clubs. Following retirement they traveled in their motor home, spending the winter months camping off the beaten paths between Arizona and Florida. Betty’s Catholic faith was very important to her. She volunteered most of her life with the church and the CCW. Betty started the welcome bag ministry for new parishioners.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Red, grandson, Rickie Lian Jr. and many dear friends. She is survived by children, Greg Lian, Rick (Peggy) Lian, and Linda (Tom) Evavold, Grandchildren; Ryan Lian, Spencer (Ross) Lian - Thornton, Joey Evavold, and Molly (Marcus) Vievering; Great Grandchildren, Eliot Lian and Owen Vievering.
