Betty J. Heinzen, 87, of Crosslake, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at the St. Josephs Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. Services for Betty will be 11 AM, Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake. Friends are welcome to visit one hour prior to services. Memorials preferred.
Betty was born April 13, 1922 in Long Lake, MN, the daughter of Arnold and Grace (Koehnen) Helgerson. She was united in marriage to Richard Heinzen on December 12, 1942 in Big Spring, TX. The couple moved to Maple Plain where they raised their family. Betty was a homemaker and she also sold products for Avon. Following retirement, they moved to Horseshoe Lake near Crosslake before settling into the town of Crosslake.

Betty enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She liked to bowl, garden, and play cards and darts. She also liked bird watching and flowers. She enjoyed the local meat raffles. Betty will be remembered for her witty sense of humor.

Betty will be missed by her husband, Richard; her children, Michael (Audrey) Heinzen, of Delano, MN and Marcia (Tom) Plotnik, of Delano, MN; five grandchildren, Brandon, Megan, Jessica, Heather, and Ryan; six great-grandchildren, Kylee, Emma, Jacob, Jonah, Claire, and Natalie; and her sister, Geraldine (Punky) Falco, of Palm Springs, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret Potter; and granddaughter, Nicole.
