Betty Brever

Betty Brever, 85, of Browerville passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Lakewood Care Center in Staples. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples at 11:00 AM with Father Joseph Korf and Deacon Tim Gapinski officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, July 15, 2013, from 6-8 PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, and one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples following the service.

Betty was born to John and Agnes (Claseman) Gossell on January 8, 1928 in Long Prairie. She was united in marriage to Alvis Brever, on January 8, 1946. Her work included cooking at various restaurants and baker at Staples School District No. 2170. She was active at church although she enjoyed crocheting, needlework and playing cards. Living on a farm for 66 years it was easy to bring her love of baking home to her family who she adored.

She is survived by her children, Roselyn (Robert) Deering of Staples, Tom Brever of Staples, Gerald (Joyce) Brever of Staples, Rita (Tom) Larson of St. Stephen; sister, Joan (Marvin) Drevlow of Long Prairie; brother, Roy (Joann) Gossell of St. Cloud; 16 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alvis; infant grandson; granddaughter, Jennifer; parents, John and Agnes; sister Jeanette Woeste.
