Betty Baakkonen

Betty Ann Baakkonen, 86, of East Gull Lake, passed away peacefully at Essentia Health on July 11, 2022. Services will be held together with her husband on Thursday July 14, 2022, at Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter at 12:00pm. There will be a visitation for family and friends one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.

Betty was born on March 3, 1936, to Donald and Maggie (Larson) Smith in Brainerd, Minnesota. She was married to Clayton Hines for 18 years. After Clayton passed away, she married Lloyd Baakkonen in 1975. Betty was a homemaker while raising her children. She was a good cook. She enjoyed being outdoors, bird watching and flowers. Her family was very important to her.

Betty is survived by her children, Gail (John) Frank, Dennis (Sherry) Hines, Bobbi (Brian) Hines, and Holly (James) Hines; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Hazel Vansickle, and Karl (Marlene) Smith; and son in law, Don Lyons Jr. She is preceded by her husbands, Clayton, and Lloyd; daughter, Karen Lyons; brothers, Curt and Lee; sisters, Marilyn Smith, and Della Metzler; and parents, Donald and Maggie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
