Bertram Kern

Bertram Richard Kern, age 70, of Hackensack, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012. He was born to Engelbert and Priscilla Kern on October 15, 1941, in a tent near Reno, Nevada, since his father was working on the railroad at the time. At the age of six, Bert's family moved to Faribault, MN.

Bert retired from the University of Minnesota where he worked as a mechanical engineer. He loved fishing.

Bert is survived by his wife, Anna; children: Shane Kern of Brooklyn Park, Shawn Kern of Brooklyn Park, Heidi Kern (Owen) of Roseville; stepchildren: Laura Cope (Richard) of Milaca; Michael Bungert (Karmen) of St. Paul; grandchildren: Sherry Kern of Naples, FL, Ashley Cope of Milaca; brothers: David Kern (Enga) and Rodney Kern (Juleen) both of Faribault.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Charles.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be donated to the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.

Services will be 1 PM on Friday, March 2, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
