Bernice Vogel

Bernice Vogel, 94, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Lakewood Care Center in Staples. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Joseph Korf and Deacon Tim Gapinski officiating. The Wake will be on Sunday, August 4, from 4-6 PM at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, with Parish Prayers at 5:30, Rosary to follow at 5:45, as well as one hour prior to service, at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples, MN.

Bernice was born to Charlie and Margaret (Fahey) Cronin on May 23, 1919 in Franklin, MN. She was united in marriage to Harold Vogel on July 13, 1944 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Motley, MN. She and her husband farmed in Thomastown Township most of their lives. They were one of the first to install irrigation on their farm. She enjoyed playing the harmonica, embroidering, traveling, visiting, socializing, and raising flowers. Mostly she enjoyed her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, James (Mary) Vogel of Staples, Thomas Vogel of Pillager, Catherine Jensen of Moorhead; 5 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Margaret; husband, Harold; son, Robert; son-in-law, Richard Jensen; brothers, Edward, Charles, Patrick and Leo; sisters, Margaret, Bernadine, MaryAnn, Rose and Louise
