Bernice Lind

Bernice Lind, 89, of Brainerd, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Edgewood Vista, Brainerd. Bea will be honored with a private Celebration of Life

Bernice was born to Clarence and Mary (Anderson) Hornby on July 24, 1923 in Brainerd, MN. She attended St. Francis Catholic School through the 8th grade and graduated from Washington High School. In high school Bea was in choir and was a drum majorette. She married Earl, also from Brainerd, while they were in Berkley, CA, in 1944. Throughout their lives they lived in many places including Brainerd, Montana, California, Oregon and Washington State. During retirement they spent 14 years traveling around the United States in their 5th wheel exploring new places and meeting up with old friends and making many new friends along the way. Together Bea & Earl loved hiking in the mountains and the sightseeing. They danced wonderfully together as well. Bea was most proud of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her cousin C. Elmer Anderson, late Governor of Minnesota. She "survived" her six children with an indomitable sense of humor, practical jokes, and love of making people laugh. In addition, she loved to fly and her favorite past time was watching The Blue Angels Military Flight Team.

Bea is survived by children, Tom (Susan) Lind of Brinnon, WA, Susan (Michael) Kirchgessner of Arlington, WA, Jerry (Nanci) Lind of Burnsville, Julie (Dan) Witt of Baxter, Judy (Jim) Anable of Seattle, WA and Carla (Tom) Loss of Brainerd; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; siblings Francis (Bernie) Hornby and Jim (Elfi) Hornby; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Earl; parents, Clarence and Mary; sisters, Lucille Freeman, Evelyn DeBusk and Mildred (Hornby); brothers, Gene Hornby and Ralph Hornby
