Bernice Kulus, 97, of Little Falls, MN died on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 11:00AM at Our Lade of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Joe Herzing officiating, the Christian Women of Our Lady of Lourdes will recite the rosary at 10:00AM, burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services at the church.
Bernice Kulus was born on August 25, 1916 in Pike Creek Township, the daughter of the late; Joseph and Frances (Hamernick) Copa. She attended grade school at Our Lade of Lourdes in the former Antlers Hotel then graduated from St. Francis High School. She attended Beauty School and worked at Cora’s Salon in Little Falls. She was united into marriage to, John D. Kulus on June 7, 1942 in San Diego during Sunday mass with 10,000 Marines present before John was deployed to the South Pacific serving as a medic/corpsman. She worked both in California and Michigan assembling military aircraft. After the war she lived in various military bases throughout the U.S. raising her 3 children. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, knitting, quilting, and helping many people. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, Catholic Christian Women and the VFW Auxillary.
Bernice is survived by 3 children; Dr. John Kulus of Oregon, Conrad Kulus of West Virginia, and Alic (Bill) Beard of California; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1977; 4 sisters, Mary, Ann, Connie, and Phyllis; and four brothers, Joseph, Bill, John, and Stanley.
