Bernice Campbell

Bernice "Bea" Clara Campbell, 91, died peacefully on March 10, 2015, at the Senior Class Care Center in Nisswa, Minnesota. Bea was born November 17, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to William John Hopkins and Erminia Sadie Howland (also known as Minnie). On January 23, 1945, Bea married Rudolph (Rudy) Herman Dimler at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Minneapolis. After he had a stroke, Bea cared for Rudy for 20 years until his death on November 26, 1989. On February 14, 1993, Bea married her high school sweetheart, Eugene (Gene) Louis Campbell at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hackensack, Minnesota. Gene fell ill with cancer and Bea cared for him until his death on August 16, 1999. Bea is also preceded in death by her nine siblings: Arthur Hopkins, Lester Hopkins, Maurice Hopkins, Verna Shipton, Norma Finch, Florence Ferlaak, Charles Hopkins, Marian Larsen, and George Hopkins (who died as a baby). Bea worked for many years as a proofreader for the publisher T. S. Denison & Company, Inc. of Minneapolis.

Bea is survived by her nieces and nephews and many close friends in the Lakes Area. She was a sweet and caring woman, with a unique flare of humor and a strong will. She had many close friends in the Lakes Area and many people will miss this tall, beautiful redhead.

The visitation will be Saturday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Nisswa. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon afterward. Bernice will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Backus with Rudy and Gene. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. Christopher's Church or to the charity of your choice.
