Bernice Anderson

March 27, 1920 — May 18, 2007

Bernice Lucille (Eichorst) Anderson was born to a farming family in Blooming Grove Township, Minnesota on March 27, 1920, the 3rd of 4 children of Anna Rose Rynda Eichorst and Benjamin August Eichorst; Marcella Remund and Lawrence Eichorst of Waseca and Eugene Eichorst of Spokane, WA, all deceased.
She was a model of strength rising above the physical constrictions of M.S. and an artist of perfection in all she did as a seamstress, embroiderer, cook, baker, cake decorator and candy maker.

Her love of nature carried her to many places. The woods were her home. Thanks to Wilderness Inquiry she kayaked and canoed in the Everglades, Lake Powell, Apostle Islands, dog sledded in the BWCAW and enjoyed many other beautiful areas. This is in tribute to a lifelong adventurous spirit.

Bernice was one of the first real estate sales women in Minnesota, with George Bedard Real Estate. She was a diligent fund-raiser for children at Sister Kenny Institute, a member of the Shrines, Nisswa Womens and Cinosam Womens Clubs, and the First Lutheran Church.

Bernice married Clarence Roemhildt of Elysian and they had Wayne Roemhildt (Shirley) of Elysian and Bonne Roemhildt of Stillwater. On October 27, 1947 she married Robert F. Anderson of Slayton, recently deceased, moved to Brainerd and they had Norman Anderson of Ironton and Kerry (Paul) Coates of Capitan, N. M. She and Bob were married sixty years.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren Jason (Sherri Kokoschke) Roemhildt, and Angela (Mike) Becker (Waynes children) and Leslie (Craig Ulven) Strowbridge, Sydney (Ron) Buss, Elyah (Julie Lee) Roemhildt Gordon and Bryn Roemhildt Gordon (Bonnes children), and 9 beloved great grand children.

Heartfelt gratitude from Bernice and her family is extended to Eric Pratt, Pat Waldorf, Barb and Harvey Love, Diane Inwards, Diane Nelson, LeeAnn Mjolness, Drs. Ann Williams and Vanessa Menghini and the many special friends and caregivers. Due to their kind and loving assistance Bernice was able to live independently until a year ago. Thank you to the staff at Diamond Willow Assisted Living and the Good Samaritan Hospice for providing expert care and comfort during her last months.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, June 2, at Brenny Funeral Chapel, Excelsior Road, Baxter.
