Bennett 'Mick' Green

Bennett "Mick" Green, 80, of Brainerd, MN, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at his home in Brainerd. Mick’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his loved ones, but his spirit will live on through the laughter, love, and cherished memories he leaves behind.

Mick was born on March 7, 1945, to Ben and Mary (Zimmerman) Green in Minneapolis, MN. He moved to Brainerd in 1957. His parents owned Green’s Groceries by the Green Lantern, a place where Mick was raised and learned the value of hard work. In 1965, he began his career with UPS as a janitor, and after 35 years of dedicated service, he retired in 2000 as a manager at the young age of 55.

On February 27, 1994, Mick married the love of his life, Jeanne Zak. Together, they shared many happy years, building a life full of love, laughter, and family memories. Mick’s favorite ‘at home project’ was putting a REAR END in his LB (lazy boy). Mick was a man of many passions, including hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Vikings and loved watching Westerns. Mick dearly loved his winters spent in Arizona. He was particularly fond of family vacations and enjoyed the simple pleasures of watching deer outside his house and spending time at the casino. Above all, Mick cherished his time with his granddaughter, Allie Marie, whom he lovingly referred to as "his girl."

Mick is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, Shelley Green and Lynna (David) Strom; his granddaughter, Allie Marie; his sister, Sandy (Bill) Streiff; many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Pat Green and the mother of his children, Shirley.

A Gathering to celebrate Mick’s life will be held on Tuesday April 8, 2025 beginning at 3:00pm until 4:45pm at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter. A Funeral Service will begin at 5:00pm, followed by a meal served at the Funeral Chapel.

Mick’s talent to make people laugh and his humor will be missed by all. We love you always!
