Benjamin Denny

Benjamin LeRoy Denny, age 80, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 16, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on January 5, 1945, to Benjamin H. Denny and Florence (Anderson) Denny.

Benjamin is survived by his wife of 42 years, Tracey Denny; one daughter, Melissa Denny; two sons, Jason Denny and Michael Denny; four brothers, Lawrence Denny, Walter (Zela) Denny, Darrell (Jackie) Denny, and Gary Denny; and one sister, Laura Trana. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Denny; his father, Benjamin H. Denny; and three sisters, Gladys Anderson, Frieda Franks, and Melva Ament.

Benjamin was a hardworking man who loved Minnesota sports, playing basketball, working on his various muscle cars, and spending time with his family. He married his wife, Tracey, on August 29, 1982, and together they shared 42 years of marriage and raised three children.

The seventh of nine children, Benjamin attended Lincoln Model School and Staples High School, graduating in 1963. He went on to earn a degree in business and office management from Wadena Vocational School.

In 1965, Benjamin was drafted into the United States Army. He served from November 1965 to November 1967 at Fitzsimons General Hospital in Denver, Colorado. After completing his military service, he worked as a machinist at Metal-Matic, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for 35 years.

In 2006, Benjamin suffered a stroke, followed by a second stroke in early 2007. He made the decision to retire early and spent his remaining years enjoying his hobbies and cherishing time with his family.

Funeral services will be held at Brenny Funeral Home in Staples on Friday, April 25, 2025. A short viewing will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
