Barbara Jean Thornberg (Larson), born on February 28, 1945, in Braham, MN was taken into the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior and Friend, on December 15th, 2024. She was the daughter of Curtis and Letty Larson and beloved wife of 61 years to David L. Thornberg.
Born into a farm family from Cambridge, Minnesota, and the eldest of five siblings, Barb dabbled in photography, was a leader in multiple student clubs, and became homecoming queen her senior year of high school before graduating and marrying her husband, David Thornberg. Barb and Dave moved to the Twin Cities and enrolled at Bethany College of Missions, following the call of God to the nations by spending time in Puerto Rico and traveling the world with the Bethany Missionary organization. Upon returning to Minnesota, Barb became the bookkeeping backbone to a variety of family business endeavors.
Barb’s life is marked by her love for God and her children and especially her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, extraordinary cook/baker and always loved a good British mystery.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David, her sister, Carol (Jeff) Kelley, brother, Albert (Colleen) Larson and her children, Brad (Debbie) Thornberg, Cathy (Jeff) Sheets, and Tyler (Heidi) Thornberg and her grandchildren, Rebecca, Katelyn, Jamie, Ruby and Axel. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Trude; and brother Jerome.
Services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Timberwood Church in Nisswa. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Stanchfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
