Barbara Shaffer

Barbara Jean Shaffer, 70, of Brainerd, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at her home. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall in Brainerd with Travis Blomberg officiating and a reception to follow at the Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Room in Baxter.

Barb was a life long resident of the Brainerd Area and spent her life living with her family, Henry and Lillie Nuttbrook. In 1982, she married Jimmy Shaffer, also from Brainerd. Together, the couple enjoyed their first love – ministering about the faith of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved her faith and was an active part of the Kingdom Hall where she had many dear friends. Barbara enjoyed music and liked to garden and write poetry. Barb operated an office cleaning business in the Brainerd area for many years.

She will be missed by her family, Jeannette (John) Jones, of Brainerd, Margie (Roger) Blomberg, of Nisswa, Dean (Louise) Shaffer, of Crosby, Rick (Joan) Stillwell, of Princeton, Kathy (Keith) Beckheyer, of California; and sisters, Rachel Wing and Aggie Hines. She is also survived by her biological mother, Mary Starr; siblings, Jerry Grondin, of Brainerd, Beverly Hines, of Brainerd, Joyce Oberfoell, of Minneapolis, Diane Stephonson, of Isle, Carol Wilson, of Minneapolis, and Jeff Starr of Minneapolis; as well as an uncle, Myron Palmer of Minneapolis and aunt, Sharon Rindahl, of Ironton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy; parents, Henry and Lillie; and siblings, Arthur, Clifford, Floyd, Harlen, Lawrence, Jenny, and Evelyn.
