Arthur Schaub

Arthur F. Schaub, 82, of Ideal Corners, passed peacefully at his farm on February 16, 2024, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born January 9, 1942, in MPLS, MN to the late Dale T. Schaub and Jennie (Nelson) Schaub.

Arthur grew up in Bloomington, and gladly spent summers between Rush Lake with his Aunt Doris and Uncle Ralph, and his Uncles Otto and Harry on their dairy farms in Stockholm, SD. He spent 4 years in the Navy with the Fighting 40 Naval Mobile Construction Battalion. He spent time in San Diego, Adak, (Alaska) Viet Nam, and Rhode Island.

He purchased his farm in 1972 and started a construction business. His favorite jobs were remodels, as he thought those took more talent than building new homes. In 1975 his parents moved to Pequot Lakes and he built them a home on his property. Arthur married Paula Saccoman on May 5, 1979, and they raised two daughters on their rural homestead. He loved animals and raised sheep, chickens, an occasional cow, pig, and housed several horses.

Arthur was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. He sang in the choir, served many Lutefisk dinners, participated in 2 mission trips to Kentucky, was involved with youth as a mentor, and on the church board in various positions. He had a stroke in 2009 which limited his energy and hearing, he missed his church family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Paula; daughter, Megan (Jacob) Loukota, their children Asa, Zachariah, Grace, Jairden and Josiah; daughter, Lexie Kate (James) Waa, their children Claire, Eleanore and Andrew; sisters, Joann (Larry) Almsted and Vivian Fahlin; brother-in-law, Robbie (Taren) Saccoman; and sister-in-law, Jane Saccoman. He also has many loving nieces and nephews, extended family, and his beloved deer hunting friends. Michael Bruder his “adopted” son.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Grace Berry; brothers-in-law, Steven Saccoman, Michael Saccoman, David Berry, and James Fahlin.

Arthur wanted to thank his doctors and nurses, Key Wellness in Crosslake and the Hospice ‘Crew’ from CRMC.

A memorial service to celebrate Arthur’s life will be Tuesday, February 27 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. Visitation at 11:00, service at 12:00.
Arrangements are entrusted to Kline Funeral Home and Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Pine River.
