Arthur Parvey

September 1, 1929 — November 3, 2018

Arthur Raymond Parvey was born September 1, 1929, to Arthur J. and Ann (Peterson) Parvey near Hansboro, North Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was a life-long member involved with bible studies, serving on various church councils, and volunteering in many ways.

He attended schools in North Dakota and one year in Minneapolis before returning to North Dakota to attend and graduate high school. He lived with his grandparents at that time and helped his uncles on the farm.

Art served in the US Army from 1951-53 and was stationed in France. He was the chief engineer on sea-going tug boat and a landing craft.

He worked for the railroad and later for the city of Bloomington before retiring in 1988 and moving to Lake Mille Lacs. He enjoyed traveling during the winter months for many years. He also enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, golfing, horseshoes, trap-shooting, genealogy, and volunteering, particularly with Wee Care-Wee Share used clothing ministry in Minnesota and Texas. He served with the VFW Color Guard units in Garrison and Maple Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Elaine (Dale) Sandwick and Christine Selness; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeremy) LaFond, and their children, Ella and Gavin, Kimberly (Nick) Farley, and their children, Cassandra, Chelsea, Caitlin Joy, Nick Jr., and David, Charlene (Adam) Sandwick, Michael Sandwick, Tess (Tyler) Selness and their children, Frances and Finely; sisters Helen Crawford and Marian Tuomala; brothers, Stanley (Ruth) Parvey and Morris (Sandra) Parvey; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other Tuomala relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two infant brothers; brother, Delmar; brothers-in-law, Donald Crawford, Mick Tuomala, and Wildred Tuomala.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 12, 2018 at Advent Lutheran Church (540 East River Road, Anoka, MN 55303)
