Arnold Fries

Arnold Fries, age 87, of Baxter, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010. Born and raised in Minneapolis, after graduating from Patrick Henry High, Arnie joined the Navy during WWII. He made a career of the Navy, became an Aviation Machinist Mate attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer, and spent much time serving our country overseas. A long time resident of the Brainerd area, Arnie enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, golfing and spending time with family and friends playing cards. Preceded in death by parents Richard and Anna, first wife Anna Mae, brother Herb, and sister Joanne. Survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Edie; children Peggy Abshire (Rick), Nancy Fries, Jeanne Burg (Paul), Jim Fries, Dave Fries (Martha), Mike Fries (Dawn), Larry Fries; step children GeorgiAnn Orr (Tim), RaeBeth Hale; brothers and sisters Bob Fries, Dorothy Walsh, Dick Fries (JoAnn), Marion Peters, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services for Arnie will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 6, 2010 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, MN with Father Steve Laflamme. Family and friends are invited to gather Sunday afternoon from 3-5 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. There will also be a visitation one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, MN. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the American Cancer Society.
