Arlene Ann Naylon, age 71, of Backus died on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the Bethany Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Brainerd. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 1 to 3 pm at the Kline Funeral Home in Pine River.
Arlene Ann Johnson was born October 8, 1938 at Bozeman, MT the daughter of Russel and Anna (Herrmann) Johnson. She moved with her family to Mankato as a small child and graduated from the Mankato High School in 1956. She attended the Mankato State College where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Arlene taught in the LeCenter, Radidan and Golden Valley Schools in Minnesota and at Waterloo, IA. She was a volunteer coordinator and education director for the Deep-Portage Conservation Reserve. She married Michael Naylon in 1960.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Michael of Backus; daughter, Chris Bourcy of Maple Grove; grandchildren, Angie, Sarah, Zac and Ryan Bourcy all of Maple Grove; great-grandchildren, Eve and Sean Buchanan; and sisters, Robin (Chuck) Meyer of Ashland, WI and Valerie King of Jenkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, David.
