Arlene Bachel

Arlene Bachel, 84, life-long resident of the Brainerd Lakes Area passed away on November 24, 2017 . Services will be on Thursday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, with Deacon Tom Freece officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services.

Arlene Y. Bachel was born May 7, 1933 in Brainerd, Minnesota the daughter of Joseph E. and Ada M. (Peterson) Yalch. She grew up in Brainerd, graduating from Washington High School in 1951. On September 22, 1954 she was united in marriage to Orville G. Bachel in Brainerd, at St. Francis Catholic Church. She enjoyed 55 years with Orville before his passing. To this union eight children were born.

Arlene was active in Girl Scouts; her troop visited Yellowstone National Park in the 50’s. Later she became a Girl Scout troop leader at Lowell Elementary School. She was proud of being a stay-at-home mother, however she did volunteer her time. She was chair of the American Cancer Society of Crow Wing County, volunteered in the craft department at Bethany Good Samaritan nursing home and visited with shut-ins for the Brainerd Area Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Orville, her parents and a grandson. Arlene will be remembered by her children, Michael (Kang), Barbara Burkey, Bradley (Yung), Deborah (Brent) Prescott, Timothy (Debbie), Thomas (Hwa), Gregory (Brynda), and Melissa (Jason) Stallman; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brother, Roul Yalch; and many nieces and nephews.
