Arlen Sergent

Arlen "Bud" Sergent, 77, of Pequot Lakes, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Monday, October 15, 2012, with his loving wife of 54 years at his side.

Bud was born in Aitkin, MN, on September 23, 1935, to Karen Alfhild (Nickander) and Andrew Sergent. He graduated from Aitkin High School.

Bud married the love of his life, MaryJo Ritter, on June 14, 1958. They have 4 children: Bret (Sue) Sergent, Monica Sergent, and Holly (Mark) Wiebolt of Pequot Lakes and Troy (Sheri) Sergent of Lakeville. Bud was known as "Bumpa" to his 11 grandchildren, their spouses, and numerous friends.

Bud was a commercial painter in Minneapolis for 14 years before moving his family to Pequot Lakes in 1972. He then owned and operated Sergent Sewer Installation for 41 years and was also a volunteer fireman for many years.

Bud loved his wife and family more than anything else. His only hobby other than taking care of his family was his love for sports, especially the Minnesota sports teams and the Pequot Lakes Patriots.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 18, from 5-7 PM at Kline Funeral Home in Pequot Lakes. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 19, at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Nisswa with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
