Arland D. Gullickson, 82, of Pequot Lakes, died at Heritage House in Pequot Lakes on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Services will be held at a later date at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
Arland was born March 27, 1933, in Boyd, MN, the son of Herman John and Martha (Idland) Gullickson. After he graduated high school in Marshall, Arland enlisted in the US Army. Following his honorable discharge he continued his education at the University of Minnesota before he began a 30-year career with the US Post Office. He married Theresa Manley and the couple had six children. In addition to his work at the Post Office, the family also operated The Flame Supper Club. He moved to Horseshoe Lake in 1967 and moved to Breezy Point in 1980. He retired in 1988. Arland was an avid sports fan - enjoying golf, playing cards and catching a game on TV. He also liked spending time with his dogs and visiting his friends and family.
He is survived by his children, Jeff Gullickson, Jill (Larry) Larson, Jamie Caughey, Joel Gullickson, Jorie (James) Lindner, and Jean Gullickson; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchldren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
