Ardith Schmith

Ardith A. Schmith (born Nelson), age 84, long-time resident of Aldrich, MN, passed away December 25, 2016. Born to Albert "Red" Nelson and Leona (Gibbs) Nelson on January 1,1932.
Ardy was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, wife, and friend to all. She owned the River Inn in Aldrich for over 40 years, where she was known to make everyone welcome with great food and conversation. When you walked in the door, she greeted you by name and asked about the family. She was the first to send food to those in need. She was quick with a story whether it be at the River Inn or on the golf course.
Ardy was the host of many social and family activities ranging from large family Thanksgiving gatherings, to the annual River Inn golf tournament, to many weddings and other social events.
Her tenacity and zest for life has been passed into her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was dearly loved and will be missed by many, including her immediate family: daughters - LuJean (Steve) Larson of Nisswa, MN; Jackie (Chuck) Anderson of Monticello, MN; sister - Rita Stone of Staples, MN; brother- Larry (Romelle) Nelson of Perham, MN; grandchildren - Kim Larson; Nicole (Chris) Tuescher; Kelly (Kurt) Lindberg; Amanda (Tom) Wetrosky; Lori Anderson; Tonya (Joe) Reum; and Kyle (Jill) Anderson; great-grandchildren - Tanner and Taylor Larson; Kaiya and Kellen Tuescher; Tyler Anderson; Brooke and Kylie Lindberg; Ethan, Mathias, and Zachary Wetrosky; Hadley, Charley, Paisley and Henry Reum. Ardy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Andy Schmith and siblings - Arvid Nelson, Darrell (Tuffy) Nelson, Leo (Buzz) Nelson, William (Billy) Nelson, and Rayma Thorn.
A celebration of Ardy's life will be held at the Congregational Church in Staples, MN at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016. The visitation will be held at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.
