Anton TonyKnosalla, age 88, of Staples, passed away at the Lakewood Health System Hospital early Sunday, October 14. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, October 17, at 11:00AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Fr. Peter Kirchner officiating. The wake will be Tuesday at the Brenny Funeral Home, from 5-7, with Rosary at 5:15 and Parish Prayers at 5:30. Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery.
Tony was born on February 21, 1919 on a farm in Moran Township, to John and Anna (Jarosh) Knosalla. He grew up there on the family farm and attended school district 45. As a young man he farmed and did custom work for neighbors. He worked in North Dakota and Staples produce. In 1944 he married Darlene Modrow in Motley. They moved to Staples in 1947. He worked for the Staples Water and Light Department from 1937 to1984 when he retired. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, car rides in the country, Twins Baseball, and visiting with family and friends. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Local Union.
Tony is survived by his wife of 63 years, Darlene; children, Phyllis Foster of Staples, John (Cathi) Knosalla of Staples, and Linda Dukowitz (Lynn Whittleff) of Princeton; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Todd Foster; and 4 brothers. Memorials are preferred to the Sacred Heart School.
