Anthony ?Tony? Rolfes, age 76, of Mission Township died Friday, May 24, 2002 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 28, at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake, with Reverend Dennis Hoffman and Reverend Bob Rolfes officiating. Friends may visit on Monday, May 27, from 5-8:00 PM at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, and for one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Freeport. Arrangements are with Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
Anthony Joseph Rolfes was born November 9, 1925 in Freeport, Minnesota, to Henry and Wilhemina (Schulte) Rolfes. He graduated from the Dunwoody Institute and became a journeyman electrician. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was married to Rosemary ?Rosie? Kerfeld, his wife of 48 years, on May 3, 1954, in St. Rosa, Minnesota. The couple lived in St. Cloud, where Tony worked for Al?s Electric until 1966, when they moved to Freeport. They lived and raised their family on a hobby farm, and Tony did industrial electrician work from his union shop. In 1990 Tony and Rosie moved permanently to their vacation home on Horseshoe Lake in Mission Township. Although he was retired, Tony continued to work in his ?shop?, making and fixing things. He enjoyed fishing and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a member of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #9657, and was a 50-year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was a member of the St. Rose Holy Name Society and the St. Joseph Society of Freeport. He belonged to the American Legion, Post 0482 in Albany, the IBEW Local #343, the Mission Possible Senior Group, and the Brainerd Senior Center. He was also a member of the Horseshoe Lake Property Owner?s Association.
Anthony ?Tony? Rolfes is survived by his wife Rosie; two daughters Cindy (Marc) Sheldon of Forest Lake, and Mary (Gary) Sunderman of St. Joseph; four sons Dan (Pam) Rolfes of St. Joseph, Butch (Deb) Rolfes of Brainerd, Kevin (Ann) Rolfes of Luxemburg, and John Rolfes of St. Augustine, FL; a sister Alice Silbernick of Cold Spring; two brothers Harvey (Sally) Rolfes of Minneapolis, and Alcuin Rolfes of South Haven; and 11 grandchildren. His parents, four sisters Delores, Marcellus, Marie, and Laverne, three brothers Amandus, Jim, and Allen, and a grandchild Cassie preceeded him in death.
