Anthony (Tony) Bartkowitz passed away peacefully at the home he was born in, on Friday, September 2, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 7, at 11 AM, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 6, from 4-8 PM, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Rosary said at 6 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, at St. Stanislaus, during the hour prior to Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Anthony was born on September 24, 1943 to Peter and Martha (Wozniak) Bartkowitz in Sobieski, MN. He attended school in Sobieski and completed the eighth grade. Anthony was united in marriage to Maxine Hegna on May 9, 1967, in Sobieski. He worked at Fingerhut, Larson, and Polar. Anthony enjoyed deer hunting, playing cards, and picking mushrooms. He liked watching TV and, on Sundays, he liked to listen to Polka World Today and call in song requests for birthdays. On Sunday afternoons he liked to smoke his pipe. His family was very important to him, and he was very proud of his Polish ancestry. Anthony spoke Polish any chance he could get. He also was proud to sing a Polish song at each of his children’s weddings. He was a member of St. Stanislaus his entire life.
Anthony is survived by Maxine, his wife of 49 years; children, David (Cindy) Bartkowitz, of Sobieski, Jeannette (Gerald) Kedrowski, of Burnsville, Dennis Bartkowitz (friend Lisa Bibeaux), of St. Cloud, Dale (Lea) Bartkowitz, of Long Prairie, Julie Bartkowitz (friend Mike Peka), of St. Cloud, Jennifer (Bronson) Hayes, of Henderson, NV, Joan (Eric) Brown, of Sartell, Jessica Blum, of Little Falls; sisters, Francis Lashinski, Betty (Dave) Burton, brother-in-law, Jim Slattery; sister-in-law, Janice Bartkowitz; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Anthony; a brother, John; sisters, Helen Slattery, and Agnes Golombiecki; brothers-in-law, Joseph Yasgar, Lawrence Lashinski, and Richard Golombiecki.

Visitation Tuesday, September 6, 4-8 PM, St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Sobieski, with Rosary at 6 PM. Visitation continues one hour before Mass on Wednesday.
