Ann Gunborg Sorgert, 89, passed away on November 6, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, Minnesota. Service for Ann will be Monday November 16 at 3:00 PM at Thomastown Covenant Church in Staples, MN, with the Reverend Dan Brodin presiding. Visitation, Sunday November 15, 2009, from 1 to 5 pm, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, Minnesota. Interment will follow the service at Staples Evergreen Hill Cemetery.
Ann was born January 29, 1920, in Sweden to Nils and Ida Peterson. She arrived in the United States with her family as a young girl. She attended school in Anoka County, Minnesota.
In 1949, she married Reinhold Sorgert and they resided on the family farm in Anoka County, Minnesota. They raised three sons. Ann was an accomplished seamstress, and she loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. In 1978 the family moved to the current farm in Wadena County. Ann enjoyed gardening, spending time with family, and reading Gods word daily.
Survivors include her children, Richard, Staples, MN; Raymond (Janel), Fargo, ND; Ronald, Finlayson,MN. Grandchildren: Reinell (Jackson) Helstad, Annandale, MN; Rebecca Sorgert and Benjamin Sorgert of Fargo, ND. Great Grandchildren: Anna, Oscar and Elizabeth Helstad. Brother, Algot (Ellen) Peterson, Deerwood, MN; Sisters, Judy Kunshier, North Branch, MN and Florence Standfield, Staples, MN.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reinhold; brother, Frank Peterson; and sister, Esther Spiczka.
