Amy Granby

Amy Granby, 24, of Staples, MN died on Thursday, March 17, 2016 in Monticello, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11:00AM at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Motley, MN. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 4:00-7:00PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN with a prayer service at 7:00PM and two hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Amy Rose Granby was born on May 29, 1991 in Staples, MN to Carl and Lila (Schneider) Granby. She graduated from Staples Motley High School in 2009. She was a violinist and choir member and carried on those talents in her church and community.

2009-2014 she attended Brainerd CLC and MState in Wadena earning her AS, AA, MAA, Billing and Coding Degrees. 2009-2015 she also worked full time at the 64 Stop in Leader, MN and helped with the LA Pig Racing show creating a special bond with the Dauer family. February 2015 she went to work at Centra Care Hospital in Monticello using her Medical Coding Degree. During the week she enjoyed her job, loved her new work family and created a special bond with her Aunt Rachel. Come Friday noon she was "headed north" to be with family and work at the Bears Den in Leader, MN, doing whatever was needed. She also found time to teach VBS at the Swan Valley Lutheran Church in Leader one week every summer. She was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Motley, MN as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, Parish Council Member, Religious Ed teacher and singing and playing violin with her sisters for Masses and special occasions. She always found time to quilt and sew special items for family and friends. Amy was a very caring and gifted person. She always had the biggest smile on her face and lit up a room when she entered. She made a lasting impression on anyone she met. She will be missed by all.

Amy is survived by her parents, Carl and Lila Granby of Staples, MN; siblings, Brianna of Onamia, MN, Carrie and Carl of Staples, MN; grandparents, Denis and Emily Schneider of Meire Grove, MN, and Alice Granby of Staples, MN; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Carl Granby; and uncle, Sam Schneider. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
