Ambrose Miller

Ambrose E. "Bosie" Miller, age 84, of Crosslake, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014, at his home. He was born in Oklee, MN, on December 19, 1929. He was a barber for 50 years, 4 while serving in the U.S. Navy, 2 years as an apprentice under his father, and 15 years in Hopkins, MN. In 1971, he decided to go back up north and bought a farm near Bagley, MN. He built a log barber shop in Bagley and also drove school bus there for 29 years. In 1998, Ambrose sold his barber shop, in 2000 his cattle and in 2002, sold his farm, then moved to Manhattan Beach east of Pine River to be near family. Though he was retired, he drove school bus for Pine River-Backus for 3 years. He truly missed the north country, his farm and his many friends. Ambrose loved to fish, hunt, and play baseball, football and basketball.

Ambrose and Marie were married for over 60 years and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 19, 2002, with a two day ordeal at their nephew, Bruce Larson's lake home on Cross Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; son, Daniel John Miller (Cindy); daughters: Debra Lynn Johnson (Ray), Lisa Marie Buckley (Pat); daughter-in-law, Julie Miller; brother, Kenneth Miller (JoAnn); grandchildren: Danielle, Carolyn and Kristen Miller, Shane, Cole and Blake Humphrey, Dana Langowski, Rachel Martin (Mike), Greg Fink (Adrena), Jennifer Weston (Mark); and two great grandchildren, Andrew and Allison Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Napoleon and Rose Miller; son, Robert; sisters: Lucille, Louella, Hazel; and brother, Morris.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Saturday, June 7, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bagley, MN.
