Alvin Anderson, age 91, of Brainerd, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland, Brainerd. He was born to George and Alice Anderson on February 18, 1924, in Minneapolis. Alvin graduated from Jefferson High School and then from Dunwoody Institute as an electrician. After joining the 292 Electrical Workers Union, he worked for Parson's Electric for 39 years. Alvin joined the Navy when he was 17 as he came from a family of men who served their country. His dad was awarded the Purple Heart in WWI for his heroism in saving lives in France after a gas attack. Alvin served in the Amphibious services in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines. After they retired, Alvin and Doris built a house on Lake Ossawinnamakee, doing most of the work themselves. Alvin and Doris loved to dance and Alvin was always the life of the party. Alvin also had a love of cars and enjoyed playing the bugle and duck hunting. He was active with the Shriners for many years.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Doris; children: Lonnee Dickson (Dennis), Tim Anderson (Kris), Tom Anderson, Chuck Anderson; grandchildren: Tate, Cory, Alyssa, Jessie, Reno, Volante, Katelyn; brother, Bob Anderson (Joann).
Private family services will be held. Memorials are preferred to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
