Alton Opsal

Alton W. Opsal, age 68, of Motley passed away Monday in Onamia. MN Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, April 14, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples. Friends may call beginning at 1:00 until time of services on Saturday. Alton Wain Opsal was born on May 22, 1938, in Iona Township, Todd County, the son of Oscar and Merlin Marie (Frank) Opsal. He was called from this life Monday, April 9, 2007, in Onamia, attaining the age of 68 years, 10 months, and 17 days. Alton grew up in Todd County and attended school there. For many years he worked for Alliance Steel Co. but had to retire early at age 45 for health reasons. He moved to Little Falls after retirement and then to the Staples- Motley area about 5 years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Merlin Marie; daughter, Tabetha Jutten; brothers, Calvin, Oscar, Donald and Kieth Opsal; and a sister, Lila Madsen. Alton is mourned in passing by his daughter, Angela (Duane) Etzler of Motley; 4 grandchildren, Heaven, MacKensie, Chaz, and Joseph; 4 sisters. Ida (Marten) Kortuem of Long Prairie, Zella Donat of Cambridge, Marie Jacks of St. Paul; and his former wife, Cindy Hartlinger of Lindstrom.
