Altheda Davidson , 91, of Pine River, went to be with her Lord on August 3, 2011, surrounded by her family. Altheda was born to Abbey and Fredrick Perry on April 12, 1920, in Alberta, Minnesota. She was married to Melvin Davidson on August 25, 1938, in Princeton, Minnesota and they enjoyed 60 years together. Their first home was in Chokio, Minnesota and three years later they purchased a small farm west of Pine River where they raised their family of five girls.
Altheda was very active in Riverview Church where she served in many capacities. She along with her husband was very interested in missions. After retiring they spent 12 years serving as volunteers in Honduras at El Sembrador, a farm school for underprivileged boys. Altheda spent many hours mending, doing laundry, cooking , gardening and being a grandparent to hundreds of boys. Enjoying her cookies and playing table games is still a happy memory for many of those boys. Altheda and Melvin prayed daily for each family member, for people in the community and many others around the world. Their prayers made a big impact on all of us.
She is survived by daughters, Shirley (Leo) Hovey of Pine River, MN, Charlene(Bob) Dabill of Baxter, MN, Sharon (Tim) Hawk of Marion, IN, Judy (Tom) Ackerman of Park Rapids, MN and Evonne (Dave) VanMaanen of Oskaloosa, IA., 18 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin.
All who knew and loved Altheda will miss her dearly.
Memorials are preferred and will be sent to missions in Honduras.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM on Saturday, August 6, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. The funeral service will be held at Riverview Church in Pine River on Sunday, August 7th at 2:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
