Allan Pflugshaupt

Allan Dean Pflugshaupt (age 80) was born on July 12, 1934 to Walter and Mable (Ivers) Pflugshaupt in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2015 at his home in Longville, Minnesota, with his wife, Evelyn, at his side.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mable Pflugshaupt, and sister, Betty Plumer.

Allan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn (Miller) Pflugshaupt; son, David (Kari) Pflugshaupt; daughter, Diane (Bruce) Gibson; son, Dan (Tammy) Pflugshaupt; grandchildren, Annie (Jessie), Joe, Caleb (Maggie), Christa, Nathan, Alyssa, Emma and Sam; step grandchildren, Lera, Ryan, and Joshua; great grandson, Mason; and step great grandson, Nolan.

Allan graduated from Shelby High School in Shelby, Iowa, in 1952. He attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, for one year. He enlisted in the Air Force and served four years, playing trumpet in the Lackland Air Force band in San Antonio, Texas. Following his discharge, he returned to Drake and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He worked four years for Collins Radio Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Richardson, TX, and then for Control Data as Comptroller in the corporate offices in Bloomington, MN from 1963 to 1989.

Allan married Evelyn Pflugshaupt on June 5, 1954. They raised their family in Lakeville, Minnesota, and enjoyed spending summer weekends up north near Longville at their cabin on the lake. After retiring, they moved to Longville. For 13 years, Al was a valued employee at Ron's Hardware store where he enjoyed serving people in the community.

Allan was a private man who was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time on the lake with his family.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held for family members in July. Burial will be at the Shelby Cemetery in Shelby, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
