Alice H. Rosvold, age 95, of Staples, MN, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at the Greater Staples Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 8th, at 11:00 AM, at the United Methodist Church in Motley, with Reverend Larry Hager officiating. Burial will follow in the Motley Public Cemetery. Relatives will receive friends on Monday evening, from 4 to 7 PM, at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
Alice Hildred Rosvold was born on February 17, 1906, in Freeborn County, Minnesota, to John and Emma (Evenson) Shequen. She grew up and attended school in Freeborn, MN before moving to Ellis, MN with her family as a teenager. She attended High School in Staples, MN and worked on the family farm. As a young lady she moved to the Twin Cities and worked in the cafeteria at the YMCA. On August 1, 1926, she married John Elmer Rosvold in Minneapolis. Together they moved to Motley, MN where they lived and raised their family. Alice was a member of the Motley United Methodist Church, it?s ladies groups, and the Rebecca Lodge.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Betty (Lionel) Stelck of Motley and Joann (King) Smith of Kennewick, WA; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-granddaughters; and 2 great-great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; a son, Eugene; a sister, Myrtle Carr; and 4 brothers, Earl, Marvin, Russell, and John.
