Alice Peterson

Alice Peterson, 95, life time resident of Deerwood, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village, in Brainerd, MN.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood, MN, and visitation one hour before, with Reverend Greg Meyers officiating. There will be a special Eastern Star Service on Wednesday evening, April 22nd, at 7 p.m., at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Brainerd, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Alice Matilda Peterson was born to Gerhard and Emma (Kleinschmidt) Aune on September 2nd, 1913 in Larson, North Dakota. She graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus, ND. Later she moved to Minnesota.

Alice was united in marriage to Edward Peterson October 7, 1955 in Carlton, MN. They lived on their farm, raising potatoes and processing their own maple syrup. Alice loved her gardens and greenhouse. She was an office administrator at several Brainerd area businesses. Alice was a devoted member of Salem Lutheran Church and an excellent cook, very active with their church luncheons. She was an accomplished artist, widely known for her beautiful rosemahling paintings. She loved to knit and crochet, even spinning her own yarn on her grandmothers spinning wheel. Alice was a member of the Deerwood Lions Club, and Eastern Star, Alpha Chapter 23.

She is survived by her bother, Norman Aune, of Brainerd and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward and her brother, Ralph Aune.
